We know you might have questions about how Box Hero works — from on-demand bin emptying to full truckload hauling. Below, you’ll find quick answers to the most common things neighbors ask about pricing, what we take, and how to get started. Don’t see your question here? General
What areas do you service?
We currently serve Carolina Forest and Myrtle Beach. If you’re just outside these zones, reach out — we can often make special arrangements or at least provide a quote so you know what to expect.
What types of items can’t you take?
Accepted materials
- Cardboard and paper
- Packing materials (packing paper, plastic film, clean Styrofoam)
- Aluminum cans and plastic bottles
- Glass bottles (not broken)
- Light household junk such as décor, small items, and bagged overflow — under 200 lbs per bin

Everything should be clean, dry, and free of liquids or food waste.

Not accepted (standard bin / quick clear-outs)
- Large furniture or mattresses (Accepted in truckload)
- Paint, chemicals, oils, or hazardous materials
- Broken glass or mirrors
- Yard and landscaping debris (leaves, dirt, mulch, branches, sod)
- Food waste, animal remains, or anything biological
- Medical waste or sharps
🧱 Construction, renovation, or commercial loads
Construction debris, renovation materials, and larger commercial loads are
not included in standard bin or quick clear-out services, but
may be eligible for truckload or special pricing.

Do I need to flatten my boxes before pickup?
For regular recycling pickups:
Please flatten your boxes before placing them in your bin. This helps everything fit properly and keeps the service quick and efficient.
For on-demand Cardboard Clear-Outs:
No flattening required. Just leave your boxes and packing materials as they are — we handle all the breakdown for you.

Scheduling & Pickup Process
How do I schedule a Box Hero pickup?
Scheduling is easy. Click “Book Online” from our home page to get started. Some services can be scheduled instantly through self-service booking. For truck-load or per-item hauling, use the same “Book Online” button to request a quick estimate.
For services booked directly online, your pickup is confirmed once payment is completed.
How soon can I get a pickup?
Most pickups can be scheduled within a couple of days or less, depending on your location and route availability. When booking, you’ll see the next available pickup windows in your area — just choose the time that works best for you.
If you need a faster pickup, reach out after booking and we’ll do our best to fit you in sooner when routes allow.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
What if the weather is bad on my pickup day?
We operate rain or shine, so your pickup will still happen as scheduled. Your bin can remain in its agreed location, and we’ll collect materials even if they’re wet.
If extreme weather ever causes a delay, we’ll reach out directly to reschedule your pickup for the next available window.
How long does a pickup take?
Most on-demand bin pickups take about 5–10 minutes from arrival to completion, depending on how many bins you have and how full they are.
Cardboard Clear-Outs and Junk Hauling jobs may take longer based on size, loading time, and access — but we work efficiently to keep every visit quick and hassle-free.

Payments & Policies
When is payment due?
Services that can be booked online should be paid for at the time of booking. For junk hauling or larger jobs, we’ll provide an estimate, and payment will be collected upon pickup.
What payment methods do you accept?
All Box Hero Bag pickups require a credit or debit card payment at the time of online booking to confirm your visit.
For on-site add-ons or larger jobs like cardboard clear-outs or junk hauling, we also accept Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, or cash.
Please note that we do not accept checks.
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled pickup will receive a full refund. Same-day cancellations may be eligible for a refund of up to 50% of the payment, since time and resources have already been reserved for your pickup. If your pickup is rescheduled due to weather or other circumstances, your payment will carry over to the new booking date.
Sustainability & Recycling
What happens to the materials after you pick them up?
Whenever possible, we recycle or repurpose materials to keep them out of the landfill. Cardboard, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans are sorted and delivered to local recycling centers.
Boxes in good condition may be donated or reused through community programs, giving them a second life before they’re ever considered waste. Our goal is to make every pickup count toward a cleaner, more sustainable Horry County.
Customer Experience
Will I get reminders about my pickup?
We send automatic text reminders for scheduled pickups as long as you’ve opted in.
If anything changes or additional information is needed, we’ll reach out directly.
Do you offer contactless pickup?
Yes — all Box Hero services are completely contactless, unless you’ve scheduled an indoor pickup or large item removal.
Just place your bin in its Designated Pickup Spot before your scheduled time — we’ll handle the rest, no contact needed.
Can I track my pickup?
Not yet — we currently don’t offer live pickup tracking. As Box Hero continues to grow, we plan to add tracking and real-time updates to make scheduling even easier.
For now, once you book your pickup, you can count on us to arrive within the time window you selected during scheduling.
What if I’m not satisfied with the service?
Your satisfaction matters to us. If something about your pickup doesn’t go as expected, reach out within 24 hours and we’ll review the situation. While all pickups are final once completed, we’ll do our best to make things right and ensure you feel confident about choosing Box Hero again.
